Julia Ormond is an English stage, film and television actress. She first gained fame in theater, with stage credits such as “The Rehearsal,” “Wuthering Heights,””Faith, Hope and Charity,” and “The Crucible.” Because of her impressive acting skills, she won the London Drama Critic's Award for Best Newcomer for her performance in “Faith Hope and Charity.” She also received an Olivier Award nomination for her performance in David Hare's “My Zinc Bed.”
Not long after, Julia Ormond began to explore the world of big screen entertainment. She appeared in Jerry Zucker's “First Knight,” and worked opposite Tim Roth in “Captives.” She later bagged a role in the epic “Legends of the Fall” starring alongside a powerhouse cast with actors Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins and Aidan Quinn. She had a lead role this time with Harrison Ford in the film “Sabrina,” directed by Sydney Pollack.
Her other notable film credits include “Resistance,” “Smilla's Sense of Snow,” and the controversial film “The Baby of Macon” which stars Ralph Fiennes and directed by Peter Greenaway.
On television, Julia Ormond starred in the HBO special “Stalin” and “Iron-Jawed Angels.” She also had roles in the drama series “Traffik,” “Animal Farm” and “Varian's War.”
Julia Ormond also established an independent production company based in New York named “Indican Productions.” Under the company she produced the Cinamax Reel Life documentary “Calling the Ghosts: A Story of Rape, War and Women.” The said documentary moved on to receive a CableACE Award and a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award.
Julia Ormond currently appears in the 2008-09 season of the CBS crime investigation series, “CSI: NY.”
During the 2000s, Julia Ormond appeared in various supporting roles in film and television. She had a major role in the 2006 film “Inland Empire” directed by David Lynch, and in the 2007 suspense flick “I Know Who Killed Me” which stars Lindsay Lohan.
In 2008, she starred opposite Brad Pitt in the hit fantasy-drama “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.” She also worked with Benicio del Toro in the biopic “Che,” and child actress Abigail Breslin in “Kit Kittredge: An American Girl Mystery.” Her most recent project was with Bill Pullman in “Surveillance,” directed by David Fincher and Steven Soderbergh.
She is currently busy producing films through her company, Indican Productions.
