Julia Ormond is an English actress born on January 4, 1965. She grew up in her birthplace, Epsom, Surrey, England. Her mother was a laboratory technician while her father was a computer software engineer. She studied at the Guildford High School and Cranleigh School, and attended the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She graduated from the acting school in 1988.
She began her acting career on stage. She was able to establish a name for herself in theater, with acting credits such as “Wuthering Heights,” “The Rehearsal,” “The Crucible” and “Faith, Hope and Charity.” Her impressive acting skills earned her a London Drama Critic's Award for Best Newcomer and an Olivier Award nomination.
Soon after, Julia Ormond began to star in films such as “First Knight,” “Captives,” “Legends of the Fall” and “Sabrina.” In these projects she was able to work with notable actors and directors such as Brad Pitt, Anthony Hopkins, Harrison Ford, Jerry Zucker and Sydney Pollack.
On television, Julia Ormond appeared on shows such as “Stalin” and “Iron-Jawed Angels.” She also had roles in “Varian's War,” “Animal Farm” and “Traffik.”
Her most recent television credits include a role in the 2008-2009 season of “CSI-NY.”
During the 2000s, Julia Ormond had supporting roles in films such as “Inland Empire,” and “I Know Who Killed Me.” She also starred in the film “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” “Che” and “Kit Kittredge- An American Girl Mystery.
Julia Ormond owns her own production company, Indican Productions.
She was first married to stage actor Rory Edwards. She later met and married Jon Rubin, a political activist. They have a child, Sophie, born in 2004.
Julia Ormond was appointed a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador in 2005 for her advocacy on anti-human trafficking initiatives.
